It has become VERY SAD today in churches seeing Christians carrying their bags to the offering bowl due to fear of theft —Rev. Vincent Kankam

Rev. Vincent Kankam has expressed a concern over what he calls a “very sad” trend developing in churches across the country, the growing fear of theft, even in sacred spaces meant for worship and fellowship.
Speaking on his popular radio program on Wednesday morning, Rev Kankam highlighted a disheartening practice now common in many churches where individuals feeling compelled to physically carry their bags and belongings with them to the offering bowl, rather than leaving them at their seats, due to concerns over possible theft.
“It is very sad to see that in the house of God, a place where people should feel safe, we now have to hold tightly onto our possessions, not out of reverence, but out of fear,” Rev Kankam lamented. “This is not how it should be in a Christian environment.” He said.
The preacher, known for his practical yet spiritually profound messages, used the moment to reflect on what it truly means to follow Jesus Christ. He called on believers not only to examine their own hearts but also to actively pursue a life that reflects the values Christ lived and taught love, honesty, humility, and care for one another.
Rev Kankam’s Food For Thought show has long been a source of inspiration for many Ghanaians, blending scripture with real-life issues to offer meaningful reflections.
As the conversation continues, Rev Kankam’s central message remains clear: in a world increasingly marked by fear and mistrust, Christians must rise above and live out the love and goodness exemplified by Jesus Christ.
