Black Stars assistant coach Desmond Offei welcomes Technical advisor Winfried Schäfer in Ghana ahead of Chad, Madagascar games

As the Black Stars get ready for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, Winfried Schçfer, their recently hired technical advisor, has arrived in Ghana.
The seasoned German coach arrived in the West African country on Monday after leading Cameroon to victory in the 2002 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Desmond Ofei, the senior national team’s assistant coach, welcomed him.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has strengthened the coaching staff in an effort to improve the Black Stars’ technical setup and increase their prospects of earning a ticket at the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
Following Otto Addo’s failure to lead Ghana to 2025 AFCON qualifying, the side will miss the competition for the first time in 20 years.
Schçfer, who has more than 40 years of administrative experience, will be the technical director of the GFA in addition to his advising position with the Black Stars.
