“NPP Government to Boost Dialysis Treatment Affordability with New Industries”
The Vice Presidential Candidate for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, has announced plans to set up industries that will manufacture dialysis consumables and reagents.
This move aims to reduce the cost of kidney disease treatment in Ghana.
According to Dr. Prempeh, the government is already in talks with companies that manufacture these consumables to explore potential partnerships.
He made this announcement during a visit to the renal department of the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in the Ashanti Region.
Dr. Prempeh emphasized the NPP government’s commitment to providing quality healthcare to all Ghanaians.
He cited the construction of 111 hospitals across Ghana, known as Agenda 111, as a testament to this commitment.
The government also plans to leverage the African Continental Free Trade Area to establish first-class industries for manufacturing dialysis consumables.
This development comes on the heels of the government’s rollout of free dialysis treatment for renal patients, which began on December 1, 2024.
