Private School Owners Association of Greater Accra Endorses John Mahama for President
The Private School Owners Association of Greater Accra has formally declared its support for John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, in the upcoming presidential elections.
According to the association, this decision was made after careful consideration of Mahama’s vision and promises for the education sector, particularly regarding private schools. The association expressed concerns that private schools have been neglected by the current government, leading to significant financial challenges and closures.
Mahama has pledged to address these concerns by including private schools in the Free Senior High School (FSHS) policy. This move is expected to alleviate financial struggles, foster healthy competition, and ensure government support for all students, regardless of school type.
The association cited Mahama’s proven track record of prioritizing education and infrastructure development as a key factor in their decision. They urged parents and students in private schools to rally behind Mahama’s vision and vote for him in the upcoming elections.
Rev. Darko Ofori, President of the Private School Owners Association, expressed confidence that Mahama’s leadership will revive and strengthen the private education sector, restoring dignity and sustainability to their schools.

PRIVATE SCHOOL OWNERS ASSOCIATION GREATER ACCRA DECLARES SUPPORT FOR JOHN DRAMANI MAHAMA IN THE UPCOMING ELECTIONS —
The Private School Owners Association in Greater Accra wishes to formally declare our unwavering support for His Excellency John Dramani Mahama (JDM) in the upcoming elections. This decision comes after careful deliberation and a keen assessment of his vision and promises for the education sector, particularly regarding private schools.
Under the current NPP government, private schools have been neglected in critical national policies, including the Free Senior High School (FSHS) initiative. This exclusion has placed an undue burden on private schools, leading to significant financial challenges and, in some cases, the unfortunate closure of several institutions.
John Dramani Mahama has pledged to address these concerns head-on. He has assured the Private School Owners Association that, when elected into office, he will take bold steps to include private schools in the FSHS policy. This inclusive approach will not only alleviate the financial struggles of private schools but also foster healthy competition and ensure that every Ghanaian student, regardless of their school type, benefits from government support.
As key stakeholders in the education sector, we believe in JM’s proven track record of prioritizing education and infrastructure development. His promise to partner with private schools is a testament to his commitment to inclusive and equitable governance.
The Private School Owners Association, therefore, urges all parents and students in private schools across the country to rally behind this vision and vote massively for John Dramani Mahama. Together, we can secure a brighter future for private education and ensure that no school or student is left behind.
We stand united with JM, confident that his leadership will revive and strengthen the private education sector and restore the dignity and sustainability of our schools.
Signed:
Rev Darko Ofori.
President, Private School Owners Association
