Mahama has failed to provide a clear vision for Ghana – Kofi Tonto

Kofi Tonto, a political aide to Dr. Bawumia speaking on the Kessben Maakye Show said despite over a year of campaigning, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has failed to present a clear vision for Ghana under John Mahama’s leadership.

He asserted that the average Ghanaian cannot identify or explain Mahama’s proposed policies, contrasting this with the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) approach. According to Tonto, the NPP has openly and respectfully communicated its policies, which the public can easily reference and understand.

Tonto criticized the NDC, claiming that rather than focusing on policy, the party has resorted to using abusive language against prominent figures, including former President John Agyekum Kufuor. He expressed disappointment in Mahama for allowing such behavior and questioned his decision to tour the Ashanti Region given the alleged verbal attacks directed at notable figures from the area.

The NDC is set to begin its Ashanti Region tour on Wednesday, coinciding with the conclusion of the NPP’s 15-day campaign in the region. Tonto highlighted the NPP’s overwhelming support during its tour, which he described as a strong indication of the party’s growing popularity and the success of its outreach efforts.

He emphasized that the NPP will not become complacent despite the positive reception. Instead, the party remains focused on engaging with Ghanaians and reinforcing its commitment to addressing key national issues if re-elected.

Tonto outlined several policies the NPP intends to implement, including reducing import duty taxes to ease the burden on traders, creating jobs for the youth, supporting agriculture—especially cocoa farming—and enhancing healthcare services.

He also noted that the NPP campaign team tailored its messages to meet the specific needs of different communities, ensuring that each group felt heard and included in the party’s vision for Ghana’s development.
