Goldfields Ghana hands over newly built $16.2m TnA Stadium to NSA

At a ceremony on Friday, August 16, the Gold Fields Ghana Foundation officially turned over the newly built and renovated Tarkwa & Abosso (T&A) Stadium in Tarkwa, Western Region, to the National Sports Authority.

The TnA Stadium’s restoration project, which cost US$16.2 million, was finished in June of this year, according to Razak Abubakar, the executive secretary of the Goldfields Foundation. The project began four years ago.

With this large investment by the Gold Fields Ghana Foundation, the 400-seat football field has been upgraded to a world-class stadium with over 8,000 seats that can hold international matches.

“The facility was in existence before we started the renovation and the National Sports Authority were the managers so it’s only fair they continue with it and the Assembly support them.

“We can assure that this facility will not be handled like the other sporting facilities in the country,” Razak assured.

The facility was transformed for a total of US$16.2 million.

The venue will be used by Medeama SC, a Ghana Premier League team, for their home games.
