Patrick Atuah slams Government over high unemployment rate

Patrick Atuah, a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) communication team in the Ashanti region, says Ghana’s unemployment rate has hit 14% under the NPP government.

He has criticized the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government for its handling of unemployment in Ghana.

Appearing as a panelist on Kessben TV’s AdwenKyere show, hosted by Kwabena Owusu Dankwa, Mr Atuah stated that the unemployment rate has skyrocketed to 14% under the NPP administration.

Mr Atuah attributed the rising unemployment rate to the NPP government’s policies, which he claimed have failed to address the needs of Ghanaians.

He noted that when the NDC left office, the unemployment rate was 7%, but the NPP has since doubled that figure.

“The NPP government has failed to create jobs, and as a result, unemployment has risen to 14% significantly,” Atuah said.

In response to a question about the feasibility of former President John Mahama’s proposed 24-hour economy, Mr Atuah argued that it is an immediate solution to Ghana’s unemployment crisis.

He explained that the policy would help reduce unemployment in the short term, while also providing a long-term solution to the country’s economic challenges.

Mr Atuah further stated that the NDC plans to support existing factories by providing them with the necessary infrastructure and resources to expand production and recruit more workers.

“Our immediate action is to provide jobs to the youth and decrease the unemployment rate in the country,” he said.

The NDC communication team member emphasized that his party is committed to changing the unemployment situation in Ghana and providing solutions to the country’s economic challenges.
