Man Gets Light Bulb Stuck in Mouth After Online Challenge
Some online challenges aren’t worth the effort to replicate it, unless the goal is to end up in the emergency ward. A Chinese man had to be rushed to the Zhejiang hospital after attempting a viral challenge and ending up with the screw base of a light bulb in his mouth. It’s safe to assume that he didn’t have the brightest brain in the crowd.
Firefighters at the Yuyao City Fire and Rescue Brigade, in Zhejiang, China, had to rescue a man referred to as Chen. He ran into the first station and tried to explain his struggles but it was hard to make out his words. He had his mouth covered with a t-shirt but after removing the makeshift mask, firefighters realized the cause behind the muffled sounds.
Chen had an LED light bulb sticking out of his mouth and was trying to get assistance to remove it.
The firemen weren’t able to get him out of the agony. In an attempt to free the light bulb, firefighters took a look at the man’s mouth and tried yanking out the object but they weren’t able to do so. They didn’t want to cause further damage to the man’s mouth in case the glass shattered.
They took Chen to the Yuyao People’s Hospital, where a team of doctors found that the man could not open his mouth wide enough to safely remove the light bulb. They had to use a special mouth opener to move his jaw to one side and extract the glass bulb.
Chen was relieved to be talking again and told doctors that he had gotten the light bulb stuck in his mouth for two hours. He tried to remove it on his own but he wasn’t able to safely remove it without causing more harm. The light bulb was causing complications like he had trouble swallowing and speaking, so he sought medical help to take it out.
The man tried the challenge after he saw someone do it in an online video and wanted to see if he can pull off the same trick. His end result wasn’t desirable since the task left him speechless and stuck.
