NPA closes unlicensed fuel stations belonging to NPP Chairman
The (NPA) has taken action against two unlicensed fuel stations operating under the name Lilygold Energy Resources Limited, which are allegedly owned by the Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Mohammed Bantima Samba.
The NPA has accused the NPP Northern Regional Chairman of illegally selling petroleum products to the public under the pretext of Lilygold. As a result, the NPA has shut down both fuel stations. The company’s license had been revoked since October 2022.
Mr. Rashid Dawuda, the Northern Regional Manager of the NPA, led a team to carry out the closure and informed journalists in Tamale about the action taken. He emphasized that the shutdown was a matter of enforcing the law and not influenced by the fact that the stations belonged to the NPP chairman. Any illegal station, regardless of ownership, would face similar consequences.
Mr. Dawuda also stated that the two fuel stations would be flagged in the NPA’s systems, preventing them from receiving petroleum products from any depot across the country. The public was urged to refrain from conducting business with Lilygold Energy Resources Limited from now on.
