Sports Infrastructure: From 2 Astro turfs in Ghana to 120 Astro turfs – Prof Twumasi commends NPP Gov’t
Professor Peter Twumasi, Director-General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), has praised the Akufi Addo-led government for its keen interest in sports infrastructure and development.
The director general of the NSA revealed on Kessben FM’s Maakye with Akuoko Kwarteng that the nation had only two astro turfs football pitches in 2017 when the Akufo Addo-led government took over.
According to the NSA chief, the country now has over 120 astroturf fields across Ghana.
He underlined that as part of the development of the sport which is at the core of the NPP Government, the Akufo-led administration is hoping to construct an astro turf in every district in Ghana that will number up to approximately 216.
Prof Twumasi added that the sports infrastructure will provide opportunities for employment creation and that the sports industry and thus generate particular occupations such as coaching and performance monitoring.
