Mampong: Kofi Agyekum arrested by police, set to appear in court on 16th Feb 2023
The police prosecutor chief inspector Peter Kolan told the court presided over by His Worship Denis Eyrem Fumeya that on 27th January 2023. One Philomena Addo a hairdresser while the accused person Kofi Agyekum used to be lovers and had separated from their relationship and had two children a girl and a boy.
According to the police, their relationship has broken up for about a year now. Since there is some misunderstanding amongst them so the accused person has gone for another girl whiles the complainant has also gone for another man.
The children were with their mother and the accused supported them financially for the upkeeping of the children. On 26th January Philomena and Frank (deceased) attended a birthday party at Bonkro Zongo and after the party came to an end, they both went home entered the room locked it.
At about 1:00 am on 27th January 2023, the accused person forcedly broke into the room and attacked the deceased, and used his elbow to hit Frank (deceased) without fighting back.
The complainant pleaded with the accused to set his man free but he refused and threatened to deal with her. As if that was not enough, the accused person broke one of his children’s medicine bottles on the floor.
The accused took one of the sharp broken bottles and began to stabbed on his chest, back, and face severally. After sensing that the deceased was bleeding profusely he carried him on his shoulder and deposit the unconscious body in a nearby bush and came back to the room and took the woman the baby into his room tightened them and locked her which is in the same vicinity.
He came back into the room to clean up the stained blood on the floor. Fortunately, the woman was able to untie herself and passed through the window and run into the bush nearby, and managed to get the Nsuta police station to make a report.
The police subsequently arrested the accused at Mampong lorry station while he was trying to run away. The body has been deposited at the Mampong morgue for autopsy.
