Upper Denkyira NDC elections: Opposition snatch voting materials from EC (Video)
Despite taking away the voting materials from Electoral Commission, the Upper Denkyira NDC constituency executive elections were still held through improvisation.
Some unknown men believed to be members one Chairman Boamah’s team laid ambushed at the Electoral officers and collected all the voting materials while they were bringing the voting material to the voting grounds.
The two main contestants for the chairmanship were an incumbent, Chairman K, and Chairman Boamah who had deflected from NPP and joined the NDC not too long ago.
Before the elections, calls were made for Chairman Boamah to be disqualified because he did not meet the requirement of contesting for the chairmanship position.
After back and forth among the executives of the party, the national level of the party hierarchy eventually gave Chairman Boamah to green light to contest.
On the day of the elections, voting materials were unavailable due to the attack on the EC officials but voting still came on as the names of Chairman Boamah and Chairman K were written on 2 separate boxes to vote.
After that exercise was held, Chairman Boamah got only 3 votes thus declaring Chairman K the winner.
