REVEALED: This is WHY Augustine Okrah shockingly rejected Black Stars’ invitation for 4-Nation Tournament in Japan
Bechem United winger Augustine Okrah has rejected a late invitation from Black Stars head coach Otto Addo to join the team ahead of the Invitational Tournament in Japan.
According to Ghana Sports Online checks with people close to the player, the 28-year-old winger declined the call up for lack of playing time with the team and as such doesn’t see the need to travel with the squad.
Okrah along with Hearts of Oak’s Daniel Afriyie Barnieh were left in the spectator’s stands to watch Ghana’s 3-0 mauling of Madagascar in the 2023 AFCON qualifiers last Wednesday.
Our checks further revealed that the call-up was extended to him through a Ghana FA Executive Council member on Sunday.
However, the former Asante Kotoko playmaker failed to move to Accra to join the rest of the contingent who left the shores of the country for the East Asian nation.
Black Stars will take on Japan in the opening games of the tournament while Chile will play Tunisia in the other game.
