There is no sense in scrapping road tolls and now chasing Ghanaians for E-Levy – Lawyer (Video)
Lawyer Alexender Twum Barima cannot phantom as to why the ruling New Patriotic Party scrapped road tolls in Ghana and now chasing Ghanaians for E-levy.
The high ranking member of the National Democratic Congress does not see any sense in the decision for the state to stop taking road tolls while the nation needs money.
Speaking on Kessben Maakye with Kwame Appiah Kubi, Lawyer Twum Barima noted that the reason the NPP Government scrapped the road toll could only be for political expediency.
He stressed that any serious government would not just collapse a source of revenue for the nation, especially in these crucial times when the country is in dire need of money.
The road ministry last Year November closed down all road tolls in Ghana ahead of the passage of the E-Levy. Prior to that Ghana had been raking around GHC 70 million Ghana Cedis annually.
