The maintenance contract for the machine at the Oncology clinic has expired – PRO of KATH
In the last few days, patients have had to go back home after a major machine at the Oncology department at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for treatment broke down.
The Public Relations Officer of the hospital, Kwame Frimpong has thrown more light on the situation at the Oncology department.
Speaking on Kessben FM’s Breaking News with Nyakoh Abronomah, Kwame Frimpong explained that the machine broke down a couple of weeks ago.
He noted the company which manufactured the machine are supposed to repair the machine but unfortunately the maintenance contract between the hospital and the company has expired.
A certain amount of money ought to be committed by the hospital before the contract is renewed for the company to repair the machine.
The Oncology Directorate at the KATH specializes in providing cancer care to patients in areas ranging from primary, secondary, and tertiary care.
The Directorate provides Outpatient services namely: Haematology, Medical Oncology and Radiation Oncology Services.
