Ghanaians implored to have eye check up at least once a year to avoid glaucoma
As part of Global glaucoma week, Ghanaians have been entreated to have regular eye check up to protect themselves from the disease.
Dr Doreen Amankwa Frempong, Ophthalmologist specialist at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital who gave this advise in an interview with Kessben news revealed that, glaucoma does not has signs and symptoms, hence, regular eye screening is the best form to protect one from the disease.
She said, Ghana is the second highest in the world which the disease is prevalence. Dr Doreen added that, 9 out of every 100 people stand at the chance of contracting the disease, thus, citizens should at least visit the hospital once in a year for eye check up to stay away from the global disease.
Dr Doreen Amankwa Frempong further beseeched glaucoma patients to continue use the prescribed medication it have been recommended by specialists and avoid using unprescribed ones.
She underlined that, the continue usage of the prescribed medication aid the eye Doctors to ascertain the effectiveness of the medicine.
