2nd Dep BoG Governor Urges Women to Invest for Financial Independence

Second Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), Mrs Matilda Asante-Asiedu, has urged women leaders to look beyond titles and assess their leadership by the impact they make in their institutions, families and communities.
Speaking at the Executive Women Network (EWN) 10th Anniversary Conference on October 2, 2026, she encouraged women to continuously develop their skills to remain relevant in a rapidly changing world.
The conference was held under the theme, “A Decade of Leadership, A Future Towards Holistic Impact.”
Mrs Asante-Asiedu said technological advancements, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity were transforming the financial sector and creating a need for women to continuously equip themselves with new knowledge and skills.
She also encouraged women to pursue financial independence by investing, building businesses and creating wealth.
The Second Deputy Governor further called on leaders and institutions to deliberately create opportunities, open doors and support the development of the next generation of women leaders.
She challenged each woman at the conference to identify another woman whose career, business or confidence they could help advance and take action within 30 days.
“One name. One door. Thirty days,” she said.
Mrs Asante-Asiedu congratulated the Executive Women Network on a decade of building a strong community of women leaders.
She expressed confidence that the future of women’s leadership would be measured not only by the number of women who attain leadership positions but also by the number of others they empower and support along the way.
