We don’t use local languages to compete globally – Former Education Minister, Yaw Adutwum

Former Education Minister Hon. Yaw Adutwum has encouraged Ghanaians to learn both an international language and their local languages to better prepare for the global environment.
Speaking on Kessben FM, Mr. Adutwum said local languages are important for cultural identity, while proficiency in a global language provides opportunities to compete and communicate internationally.
“We don’t use any of our local languages to compete in the global world, so it’s good to learn the global language plus your local language,” he said.
He emphasized the need for learners to develop strong communication skills while maintaining a connection to their local languages and culture.
