Chartered Accountant and two-time parliamentary candidate, Dr. Issaku Tahiru Moomin, has filed his nomination to contest the National Treasurer position of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) ahead of the National Delegates Conference slated for October 3 in Kumasi.
Speaking to the media after filing, Dr. Moomin said he is offering himself to make the party financially functional and transparent ahead of the 2028 elections.
“To thank everyone that followed me and those who bought into my vision to make NPP better and functional, I’ve offered myself for the position of National Treasurer, so that when I get the opportunity, I will use my experience, my exposure, and the knowledge that I got in the area of accounting and finance for the support of the party,” he said.
Unity And Resources To Win Power
According to him, winning power requires two key components.
“What we need to win power, there are two components, and one is the unity that we need as people and as a party, and the next are the resources that we need to mobilize to win power and to execute that agenda, and that is why I come in.”
Track Record
Dr. Moomin appealed to delegates to consider his professional and political experience.
“I’m appealing to everyone to look at my track record as a chartered accountant and one that has over 25 years working experience in the public sector, two times parliamentary candidate, two times Municipal Chief Executive, and that has offered me broader experience in the political arena.”
“Putting all this together, I will be a one-stop shop for the solutions for challenges confronting NPP in terms of financial mobilization and management.”
Integrity, Transparency and Real-Time Dashboard
The aspirant said integrity will be his hallmark if elected.
“Integrity is one thing that I cherish so much, and that is what I’m carrying into the office of the National Treasurer. Apart from going out to mobilize money for the party and managing it efficiently and effectively, I will also make sure that transparency and accountability becomes my benchmark.”
He unveiled a key promise to digitize party finances.
“When I become National Treasurer, we are going to have a real-time financial dashboard. Whoever pays money, gives anything to the party, you will see it in real time that you paid to the party. We can track every cedi, every pesewa that comes to the party.”
“Let me assure you, our money is going to be used solely for strategic campaign activities to win us power. A party exists to win power. So whatever resources we have will be channeled into activities that will give us victory.”
“If you give me the opportunity, I want to let you know you have a safe pair of hands for the party’s resources,” he concluded.
