Deputy National Organiser and aspiring National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Chris Lloyd Nii Kwei Asamoah, has reaffirmed his commitment and readiness to lead the party’s youth wing to a resounding victory in the 2028 general elections.
According to Mr. Lloyd, his significant contributions to the party over the years, coupled with his rich experience in grassroots mobilization, make him the most qualified and battle-tested candidate to serve as National Youth Organiser and help the NPP reclaim power from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government.
Mr. Asamoah made these remarks when he officially filed his nomination forms to contest for the National Youth Organiser position at the party’s national headquarters in Accra. His filing drew a large crowd of enthusiastic youth supporters, constituency executives, and party faithful who thronged the headquarters to show solidarity.
Addressing the media and supporters after filing, Mr. Chris Lloyd Nii Kwei Asamoah said he had played a key role in the party’s mobilization efforts for the past two decades, maintaining that his long-standing involvement has given him the experience, networks and deep understanding required to effectively lead the youth wing into the crucial 2028 elections.
“I have been on the ground for over twenty years. From polling station to national level, I know the concerns of the youth, I know the dynamics of our party, and I know what it takes to win. I am not coming to learn on the job; I am coming to lead from day one,” he stated to thunderous applause.
He emphasized that among the aspirants contesting for the position, he is the candidate with the strongest base both within and outside the party, with relationships that cut across student groups, volunteer groups, professionals and the diaspora youth.
Mr. Lloyd also highlighted what he described as his achievements in the Odododiodio Constituency, stressing his longstanding contribution to the party at the grassroots level. He noted with pride that he was the second person from the constituency to come to the party’s headquarters to pick up nomination forms for the National Youth Organiser position, underscoring his boldness and long-standing ambition to lead.
“Odododiodio is one of the toughest constituencies for the NPP, but we have held our own and continued to grow the party there because of commitment and sacrifice. If we can grow NPP in Odododiodio, we can grow it anywhere in Ghana,” he argued.
He said his vision for the Youth Wing rests on three pillars: Rebuild, Rebrand and Recapture Power.
Under rebuilding, he promised to restructure youth groups from TESCON to the various volunteer movements and give them clear resources and targets.
On rebranding, he said he will reposition the NPP Youth Wing as disciplined, respectful and attractive to young Ghanaians, moving away from insults and internal attacks.
And on recapturing power, he outlined plans for a massive door-to-door campaign, digital mobilization, and youth-focused policy advocacy to win back young voters who drifted away in the 2024 elections.
“Our youth feel disconnected. They need jobs, they need hope, they need to be heard. My leadership will ensure that the Youth Wing becomes the true voice of the Ghanaian youth and the campaign machine that will deliver victory for H.E. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and the NPP in 2028,” Chris Lloyd declared.
He therefore appealed to delegates to entrust him with the mandate, promising an inclusive leadership that will not leave anyone behind.
“The NPP Youth Wing needs a leader who has been tested, who understands grassroots mobilization, who has been loyal in both good and bad times, and who can unite all youth groups. I am that leader,” he concluded.
The NPP is expected to vet and ballot all aspirants in the coming weeks ahead of its National Delegates Conference in October, where a new set of national executives will be elected to lead the party’s revival and reorganization agenda ahead of the 2028 general elections.
