Suspected Narcotics Found in Sacks
A statement from the Public Affairs Unit of the Upper East Regional Police Command, signed by Chief Inspector Abdul-Raman Sumaila, said the operation resulted in the discovery of a large quantity of suspected narcotic substances concealed in sacks.
According to the Police, preliminary investigations suggest that the suspected Indian hemp was cultivated alongside millet and maize to conceal the farms and prevent detection.
The suspects are also believed to be major suppliers of narcotic drugs to several drug dealers operating in parts of the Upper East Region, the Police said.
The arrests form part of ongoing efforts by the Police Command to dismantle networks involved in the cultivation, distribution and supply of narcotic drugs in the region.
The Police said the suspects remain in custody and will be arraigned before court to face the appropriate legal processes.
