Jordan Henderson has officially parted ways with Brentford after the club and the veteran midfielder agreed to terminate his contract by mutual consent.
The 36-year-old, who returned to the Premier League only last summer, is now on the verge of completing a surprise free transfer to Chelsea.
Brentford confirmed Henderson’s immediate departure despite the former Liverpool captain still having time remaining on his original two-year contract. His exit comes as Chelsea push to strengthen their squad with experienced players, aiming to add leadership to a youthful group that has lacked senior figures in recent seasons.
Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Henderson’s move to Stamford Bridge is all but complete. Posting on X, Romano announced: “BREAKING: Jordan Henderson to Chelsea, here we go! Former Liverpool captain has agreed a two-year deal at Chelsea and will sign until June 2028 this week. Henderson left Brentford and Chelsea will now welcome him next.”
If completed, Henderson’s arrival will see him join Chelsea on a free transfer, bringing valuable Premier League experience and leadership to Alonso squad.
