The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially inaugurated its National Elections Committee to supervise the processes leading to the Party’s National Conference for the election of National Officers.
The Committee was inaugurated by the Acting National Chairman, Chairman Butey, who charged members to discharge their responsibilities with integrity, impartiality and professionalism in accordance with the Constitution of the Party and all applicable regulations. The Committee is chaired by former Member of Parliament for Suhum, Hon. Frederick Opare-Ansah, with Hon. Abena Osei Asare serving as Vice Chairperson and Mr. Evans Nimako as Secretary.
The Committee is composed of Hon. Frederick Opare-Ansah, Hon. Abena Osei Asare, Mr. Evans Nimako, Madam Oboshie Sai Cofie, Hon. Anthony Abayifa Karbo, Hon. Salam Ama Appianin Damata, Mr. Eric Ntori, the Ashanti Regional Chairman (who will assume office upon the conclusion of the Ashanti Regional Elections), and Mr. Frank Davies, Esq.
The Committee’s mandate includes planning, organizing and superintending over all processes leading to the National Conference for the election of National Officers of the Party, as well as conducting the elections in accordance with the Party’s Constitution and applicable regulations. Speaking on behalf of the Committee after the inauguration, Chairman Frederick Opare-Ansah expressed gratitude to the Party leadership for the confidence reposed in the Committee and assured members that the responsibility would be discharged with utmost dedication. He described the assignment as one that goes beyond the conduct of an election, saying it is a responsibility to safeguard the democratic traditions, unity and credibility of the NPP. “We recognize the enormous responsibility entrusted to us. We are determined to ensure that every stage of the process is conducted with fairness, transparency, integrity and strict adherence to the Constitution and the rules governing the elections,” he said.
Hon. Opare-Ansah further appealed to all aspirants, Party officers and members to support the work of the Committee by respecting the established rules and procedures. According to him, the Committee would engage all relevant stakeholders throughout the process to ensure transparency, build confidence and promptly address concerns that may arise.
He noted that while elections naturally involve competition, they should ultimately strengthen rather than divide the Party. “Our objective is not merely to conduct successful elections but to leave the Party stronger, more united and better positioned for the important national task ahead. Every contestant and every delegate must have confidence that the process will be impartial and that every vote will count.”
The Chairman also assured Party members that the Committee would conduct its work independently, professionally and without fear or favour, stressing that fairness to all contestants would remain the Committee’s guiding principle throughout the electoral process.
The New Patriotic Party expressed confidence that the Committee possesses the experience, competence and integrity required to deliver a credible electoral process worthy of the Party’s democratic traditions.
