Djurgården and adidas Unveil 135th Anniversary Kit That Doubles as a Season Ticket for 2161

Swedish club Djurgården IF have partnered with adidas to release a special 135th-anniversary jersey that is more than just a football shirt. The limited-edition kit also serves as a symbolic season ticket for the club’s 2161 campaign, encouraging supporters to pass it down through future generations.
Created to celebrate the club’s rich history, the jersey reflects Djurgården’s belief that every generation is only a temporary guardian of the club’s legacy. Inspired by the motto “Alltid Oavsett” (“Always, Regardless”), the initiative highlights the enduring bond between the club, its supporters and the city of Stockholm.
The standout feature of the launch is that every original anniversary shirt can be redeemed for entry to Djurgården matches during the 2161 season, exactly 135 years from now. To preserve the idea, one jersey will be kept in a secure climate-controlled display case and opened only at the start of the 2161 campaign.
Djurgården’s Head of Marketing and Communication, Björn Lundevall, said the project celebrates the club’s deep roots in Stockholm while inspiring future generations to continue its traditions.
The jersey also honours the club’s famous Järnkaminerna (“The Iron Stoves”) identity. Instead of the traditional blue stripes, it features a steel-grey design with metallic details, the club’s original four-pointed star crest and a tribute to founder John G. Jansson.
adidas Nordics’ Director of PR and Brand Communications, Henrik Hallberg, described football shirts as powerful symbols of identity and said the collaboration celebrates Djurgården’s history while looking towards its future.
Rather than using professional models, the launch campaign features local supporters of all ages, reflecting the strong community spirit that has defined the club for more than a century.
Fans will first see the anniversary kit on the pitch when Djurgården’s men’s team face Västerås SK on August 3, with the women’s team wearing it against IK Uppsala on August 8.
