Europe Needs Workers, Ghana Has the Talent – Youth Minister Launches Ghana Labour Exchange Programme

The Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment, George Opare Addo, has officially launched the Ghana Labour Exchange Programme, an initiative aimed at creating international employment opportunities for Ghanaian youth while addressing labour shortages in Europe.

The programme was launched in collaboration with NAYT Consult, and the Ministry of Labour, Jobs and Employment.

Speaking at the launch, Mr. Opare Addo described the initiative as a major step toward tackling youth unemployment by connecting skilled young Ghanaians with job opportunities abroad.

He expressed confidence in the capabilities of Ghana’s youth, stressing that the country is blessed with energetic and highly skilled young people who can excel when given the right opportunities.

The Minister noted that in his engagements with European partners, he consistently highlights Ghana as part of the solution to their labour shortages.
“You have a problem in labour shortage, and we have a solution. But we can only work together if there is collaboration and partnership,” he said.

Mr. Opare Addo further urged European countries to clearly specify their labour requirements so Ghana can train its workforce to meet international standards, creating a win-win partnership for both sides.

He also praised the Ghana Labour Exchange Programme, saying it has been carefully structured to provide prospective migrants with the necessary guidance, training, and facilitation to access employment opportunities in the European job market.
The initiative is expected to boost legal labour migration, enhance skills development, and expand employment opportunities for thousands of Ghanaian youth seeking careers abroad.
