CPP Cautions NPP And NDC Not To Meddle In Dagbon Traditions During And After Ya-Na’s Funeral

The Convention People’s Party, CPP, Has Expressed Deep Sorrow Over the Passing of His Royal Majesty Ya-Na Abukari II, The Overlord of Dagbon, And Has Cautioned the NPP And NDC Not to Interfere in The Traditions of Dagbon During and After the Funeral.

In A Statement Signed by National Communications Director, Osei Kofi Acquah, The CPP Described the Late Ya-Na as A Unifier Who Brought Lasting Peace to Dagbon.

“Ya-Na Abukari II Brought Peace to Dagbon”

The CPP Recalled Its Historical Ties with Dagbon, Dating Back To The 1950s When The Opoku-Afari Commission Was Constituted By The Government Of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah To Resolve A Succession Dispute In 1948.

“Ya-Na Abukari II Is Not Only Revered and Respected by the Convention People’s Party But Is Also Seen As The Great ‘Skin’ Who Brought Peace To Dagbon By Uniting the Abudus and The Andanis,” The Statement Said.

Call For Vigilance And Non-Interference

Acknowledging The Tensions That Often Arise When A Great Traditional Ruler Passes, The CPP Called On National Security Agencies To Remain Vigilant To Maintain Peace In Dagbon.

The Party Also Specifically Advised The Two Major Political Parties To Stay Out Of Dagbon’s Internal Affairs, Especially Issues Relating To Succession.

“The NPP And The NDC Are Also Hereby Advised Not To Meddle In The Affairs Of Dagbon Particularly When It Comes To The Issue Of Succession,” The CPP Stated.

“The Traditions Of Dagbon Are Very Ancient And Have Already Been Established, Particularly When It Comes To Succession, And We Must Allow Due Process To Ensure Fairness, Justice And Peace.”

CPP Flags To Fly at Half-Mast

As A Sign of Mourning, The CPP Has Directed That All Party Flags Be Flown At Half-Mast Nationwide.

“We Pray for Eternal Rest for Our Beloved ‘Skin’ And Take Solace in the Wisdom That Only God and Our Ancestors Know Best,” The Statement Concluded.

The CPP Joined the People of Dagbon and Ghanaians At Large in Mourning the Late Overlord, Describing His Reign as One Defined by Peace, Dialogue and Unity.
