Cabinet is expected to reconvene to finalize discussions on the Government’s Position Paper regarding the review of the 1992 Constitution. The scheduled meeting last Friday was postponed due to the National Clean-Up exercise.
Sources indicate that Cabinet has already conducted preliminary deliberations on the document, with only a few outstanding amendment proposals remaining before final approval can be granted. A new meeting date has yet to be announced.
Once the Position Paper receives Cabinet’s approval, the Attorney General and the legal team will begin harmonizing it with the Constitutional Review Committee’s report.
The two documents will then be submitted to the Constitutional Review Implementation Committee for consideration. The submission of the harmonized documents is expected to mark the start of the next phase in the constitutional review process, as the government aims to advance proposals to reform certain aspects of the 1992 Constitution.
