Ghana to host landmark 2027 UN Tourism Africa Summit

Ghana has secured the rights to host the 70th Session of the United Nations (UN) Tourism Commission for Africa (CAF) in 2027, marking a major milestone for the country’s tourism and international diplomacy.
The hosting rights were awarded during the 69th Session of the UN Tourism Commission for Africa held in Seychelles, following a successful bid presented by Ghana’s Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie.
The 2027 summit will coincide with Ghana’s 70th Independence Anniversary, providing a unique platform to showcase the country’s cultural heritage, tourism attractions, creative arts, and hospitality industry to delegates from across the continent. The event is expected to attract tourism ministers, policymakers, investors, industry leaders, and development partners to discuss strategies for promoting sustainable tourism and regional cooperation in Africa.
Speaking after the successful bid, Minister Gomashie said hosting the summit reflects Ghana’s commitment to positioning tourism as a catalyst for economic transformation, cultural exchange, and African integration. She also assured member states that Ghana has the infrastructure, security, and organisational capacity to deliver a successful event.
The summit is expected to boost Ghana’s profile as a leading destination for heritage, cultural, and diaspora tourism while creating opportunities for investment, job creation, and stronger collaboration within Africa’s tourism sector.
