The Ken Agyapong Debate: Charles McCarthy Exposes NPP Double Standards

A recent discussion on Kessben TV shed light on a major double standard in Ghanaian politics. Charles McCarthy from The Hawk newspaper weighed in on a new petition by some NPP youth trying to penalize MP Kennedy Agyapong. McCarthy didn’t hold back, calling out the sudden hypocrisy.
He pointed out that for years, the NPP happily cheered Agyapong on whenever he launched fierce attacks against John Mahama and the NDC. His aggressive style was celebrated as bold truth-telling when it served the party. But the moment that same fiery energy turned inward against NPP leadership, the establishment suddenly labeled him dangerous and divisive.
McCarthy defended Agyapong’s right to speak out, arguing that he is simply sharing what he knows as a citizen. He questioned why critics are now rushing to push him out over topics that other party communicators openly discuss. It proves that in politics, bluntness is only welcome when it targets the opposition, exposing a clear lack of consistent standards.
