Rev. Akwasi Nyarko has defended the use of luxury vehicles by Christian leaders, arguing that if Jesus Christ were living in the modern era, He would have used today’s available means of transportation instead of those common during biblical times.
Speaking on Kessben Drive with host Fante Quoo, Rev. Nyarko said critics should stop condemning men of God for owning expensive vehicles such as Toyota Land Cruisers. According to him, Jesus traveled on horses, camels, and donkeys because those were the primary means of transportation in His time.
“If Jesus Christ were on earth today, He would have driven a Land Cruiser, not used horses and camels,” Rev. Nyarko remarked, adding that pastors should be allowed to enjoy the benefits of modern society like everyone else.
He maintained that possessing modern conveniences does not diminish a minister’s calling and urged the public to focus more on the impact of a pastor’s ministry rather than the material possessions they own.
His comments have sparked debate among listeners, with some agreeing that religious leaders should not be judged solely by their possessions, while others believe pastors should continue to demonstrate modesty and simplicity in line with Christian teachings.
