They Shouted ‘Fire Her!’ and Opened Fire – Spokesperson Alleges Attempted Assassination of Apostle Safo’s Daughter

A spokesperson for the family of the late Apostle Kwadwo Safo has alleged that Apostle Safo’s daughter, Adwoa Safo, narrowly escaped an assassination attempt during a disputed installation ceremony linked to the leadership of Kristo Asafo.

Speaking on the matter via zoom interview on Kessben Maakye show in Accra, Dr. E.Y. Boakye claimed that tensions erupted after plans were made to install Kwadwo Safo Akofona as the new leader of the movement. According to him, some of Apostle Safo’s children disagreed with the move and sought a court injunction to halt the process.
Dr. Boakye alleged that Adwoa Safo later learned that the installation was being conducted secretly at a private residence after the police bar the program from being held at Apostle Safo’s school at Awoshie, so she then drove to the location.

He claimed that upon arriving at the premises, she realized a covert installation ceremony was underway and attempted to enter. According to the spokesperson, individuals at the scene allegedly ordered others to “fire her,” after which gunshots were directed at her vehicle.
Dr. Boakye further alleged that about 48 rounds were fired, forcing Adwoa Safo to flee the area with gunshot wounds. He said she was moved between medical facilities before being admitted to the 37 Military Hospital for treatment.
“Currently, she is a bit stabilized and responding to treatment,” he stated.

In a dramatic account of the incident, Dr. Boakye said Adwoa Safo later recounted seeing what she described as the image of her late father shielding her from the bullets as the gunmen continued firing.

The spokesperson also dismissed allegations that Adwoa Safo was armed or that she deliberately rammed the main gate of the premises with her vehicle to gain entry.

Additionally, he claimed that Kwadwo Safo Akofona was involved in drug use hence his cruel actions against his sister.

The incident has intensified the ongoing dispute within the Kristo Asafo movement over succession and leadership following the death of its founder, Apostle Kwadwo Safo. Authorities are yet to publicly comment on the allegations
