BREAKING: Chairman Wontumi seeks plea bargain in Exim Bank 30 million loan case

Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has reportedly requested a plea bargain in the alleged Exim Bank loan fraud case currently before the Accra High Court.

The development emerged during proceedings in the case, where Chairman Wontumi is facing allegations linked to a loan facility obtained from the Ghana Export-Import (Exim) Bank. Details of the proposed plea bargain have not yet been made public.

Legal observers say a plea bargain, if accepted by the court and relevant parties, could lead to a negotiated resolution of the matter without a full trial. However, the court is expected to consider the request in line with applicable legal procedures.

The case continues to attract public attention due to Chairman Wontumi’s prominent role within the NPP and the significance of the allegations before the court. Further proceedings are expected in the coming weeks.
