The operation, which took place on May 20, 2026, was conducted by the Asankragwa Sector Command under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner of Immigration (ACI) Kwabena Adjei.
In a statement released on June 2, 2026, and shared on its Facebook page, the Service indicated that the raid targeted premises suspected of being used for commercial sex activities.
According to the GIS, an initial screening of 112 rescued individuals showed that they were made up of 110 Nigerians, one Beninese, and one Cameroonian. All the victims were females aged between 12 and 38 years.
The Service further stated that the individuals were transferred to a holding facility in the Greater Accra Region for further screening and investigation.
Subsequent investigations by the Anti-Human Smuggling and Trafficking in Persons (AHSTIP) Unit led to the identification of seven suspects and confirmed that 105 of the rescued persons were victims of trafficking.
The GIS added that it worked with relevant embassies and community representatives to ensure the safe repatriation of the victims to their home countries.
The seven suspects remain under investigation and are expected to face prosecution if found guilty.
Commenting on the operation, the Comptroller-General of Immigration, Mr. Samuel Basintale Amadu, urged all foreign nationals in Ghana to strictly adhere to the country’s immigration and criminal laws.
The Service reiterated that the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to combat human trafficking, human smuggling, and other transnational crimes, while reaffirming its commitment to protecting vulnerable persons and enforcing immigration regulations.
