President Mahama arrives in London for working visit to strengthen Ghana-UK economic ties

President John Dramani Mahama has arrived in London for a high-level working visit aimed at deepening economic cooperation between Ghana and the United Kingdom, attracting investment, and engaging the Ghanaian diaspora.
The President was welcomed on arrival by Lord Katz MBE from the Royal Household, H.E. Gordon Wetherell, Special Representative of the Secretary of State for the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), and Ghana’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Ireland, H.E. Sabah Zita Benson.
According to a statement issued by the Presidency, the visit will feature a royal audience with King Charles III and a breakfast meeting with British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, underscoring the strong and enduring relations between Ghana and the United Kingdom.
As part of his itinerary, President Mahama will participate in a town hall meeting with members of the Ghanaian diaspora, hosted by the Ghana High Commission in London. The engagement is expected to provide an opportunity for the President to interact with Ghanaians living in the UK and discuss national development issues.
On Monday, President Mahama will officially open the Ghana-UK Investment Summit at Raffles London. The summit is designed to position Ghana as a leading investment destination, attract foreign direct investment, and strengthen partnerships between Ghanaian businesses and British investors.
The President will also visit the London Stock Exchange, where he will ring the bell to mark the start of trading, highlighting Ghana’s growing role in global financial markets.
In addition, President Mahama is scheduled to deliver an address at Chatham House and present a keynote speech at the 12th Africa Debate at London’s Guildhall, where he is expected to outline Ghana’s economic outlook and development agenda.
The visit, which began on May 31, will conclude on June 3, 2026.
