Prisoners on community cleaning exercise are not supposed to receive money directly – Corporal Agyamfra Boateng Agyamfra

Corporal Emmanuel Boateng Agyamfra of the Public Relations Unit of the Ghana Prisons Service in the Ashanti Region has cautioned the public against giving money directly to prisoners who are taken outside correctional facilities to sweep and clean communities.

According to Corporal Agyamfra, members of the public who wish to support inmates financially should instead hand over any donations to the prison officer supervising the prisoners. He explained that this procedure ensures transparency, accountability, and proper monitoring of all support given to inmates.

Speaking with Fante Quoo on Kessben FM, he emphasized that prisoners assigned to community sanitation exercises remain under the supervision and regulations of the Ghana Prisons Service, and the public must respect the established protocols.

He further encouraged citizens to continue supporting rehabilitation efforts but to do so through the appropriate prison authorities to avoid any misunderstandings or breaches of prison regulations.
