The Mayor of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, Kwasi Ofori Agyemang Zuba, has confirmed that the Oti landfill site has reached full capacity.
Speaking on Kessben FM’s Maakye, the mayor disclosed that the situation is posing a major challenge to waste management efforts in Kumasi.
According to him, authorities are exploring alternative measures to address the growing waste disposal problem and prevent a sanitation crisis in the metropolis.
Hon. Zuba stressed the need for urgent interventions, including the identification of new landfill sites and improved waste management systems to cope with the increasing volume of refuse generated daily..
The revelation has raised concerns among residents and environmental stakeholders about the long-term sustainability of waste management infrastructure in Kumasi.
