Seven ORAL cases progressing through courts-Mahama assures

President John Dramani Mahama has assured Ghanaians that cases under the ongoing Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) are steadily progressing through the judicial system, despite concerns over perceived delays.

Speaking during a town hall meeting in Koforidua as part of his “Resetting Ghana Tour,” President Mahama revealed that seven ORAL-related cases are currently before the courts.

Addressing public concerns, he emphasized that the cases are no longer within the control of the executive arm of government. “There are seven ongoing ORAL cases pending in court. Once the investigations are completed and the cases are handed over, they are no longer under my jurisdiction but that of the judiciary,” he stated.

The President underscored the importance of respecting Ghana’s constitutional framework, particularly the doctrine of separation of powers. “We must respect the separation of powers as enshrined in our Constitution. The judiciary is independent and must be allowed to carry out its mandate without interference,” he added.

President Mahama also appealed to the public to remain calm and patient as the legal processes unfold. “I want to appeal to Ghanaians to exercise patience. Justice takes time, and we must allow the courts to do their work,” he urged.

The ORAL initiative, aimed at investigating and recovering alleged misappropriated state resources, remains a key pillar of the government’s anti-corruption agenda. The President reiterated his administration’s commitment to accountability, assuring that due process will be followed to ensure fairness and transparency in all cases.
