Gov’t settles $29m suame road debt, Injects GH₵3bn to accelerate works – Kwame Governs Agbodza, Minister for Roads and Highways

The Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, has announced that the government has settled $29.5 million in outstanding payments owed to contractors working on the Suame Road project.

He disclosed this during an inspection visit to the site on Tuesday, April 28, emphasizing that the government remains dedicated to completing all ongoing road projects it inherited.

Mr. Agbodza further revealed that an additional GH₵3 billion has been approved to accelerate construction and enhance the overall quality of the project.

According to him, the Suame Road project is on track for full completion by the end of 2028.

“We are still on course to complete the interchange as scheduled. We are not diverting any funds from the project; instead, we are injecting an extra GH₵3 billion to strengthen it,” he stated.

He added, “Our goal is to finish the entire project by the end of 2028, but the section we are currently inspecting will be completed before the close of this year.”
