All the “noise” on various radio stations about marital cases being discussed is not legal – Law Lecturer, Oheneba Ansu Diabour

Central University, Oheneba Ansu Diabour, has raised concerns over the growing trend of discussing marital disputes on radio, describing the practice as unlawful.
Speaking on Kessben FM with Wofa Kofi Appiah, he stated that the increasing “noise” across various radio stations about private marital issues goes against legal principles governing family matters.
According to him, cases involving marriage, divorce, and family conflicts are meant to be handled with a high level of confidentiality, often in chambers, rather than being exposed to the public through media platforms. He emphasized that broadcasting such sensitive issues risks violating the privacy rights of the individuals involved.
“The “noise” on radio stations about marital issues is not legal,” he noted, stressing that media discussions of ongoing or private disputes could have legal consequences.
Oheneba Ansu Diabour further urged media practitioners to exercise caution and professionalism, advising them to respect the legal boundaries surrounding family law. He also called on the public to avoid using radio platforms to settle personal disputes, encouraging proper legal channels instead.
