Sammy Gyamfi need not to resign from his GoldBod role before contesting Asiedu Nketia for the NDC flagbearer position – Kwasi Mensah
Kwasi Mensah, has argued that Sammy Gyamfi does not need to resign from his position at GoldBod before contesting for the flagbearer slot of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Speaking on Kessben FM, Kwasi Mensah dismissed suggestions that Gyamfi must step down prior to entering the race, insisting that holding a position does not automatically disqualify him from contesting.
The comments come as internal conversations within the NDC intensify ahead of future leadership contests. While some party members advocate for a level playing field that may require officeholders to step aside, others believe experience in public roles should not be a barrier to political ambition.
Analysts say the issue touches on broader questions of ethics, fairness, and internal party regulations, particularly regarding incumbency advantage and conflict of interest.
As discussions continue, party stakeholders are expected to clarify guidelines governing eligibility and conduct for aspirants, as the NDC prepares for what could be a competitive flagbearer race.
