Former NPP Organizer for Ayawaso West Wuogon, Kwadwo Yeboah, has called on the President to reshuffle the Attorney General, citing what he describes as “questionable actions” that undermine the fight against corruption.
Speaking on Kessben Maakye on Thursday, Yeboah criticized the AG following the recent High Court ruling involving the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP). He alleged that the Attorney General’s decision to challenge the powers of the OSP in court contributed to Ken Ofori-Atta’s release from ICE detention.
*“The Attorney General declared the powers of the OSP null by challenging the office in court. He is the reason for Ofori Atta’s release from ICE’s detention,”* Yeboah stated.
The former organizer accused the AG of prioritizing “position and power” over his judicial mandate. He questioned why the AG would prevent the OSP from executing its obligations. *“Why is the AG preventing the OSP from execution of its judicial obligations and what at all is within the sector that he doesn’t want others to know?”* he asked.
According to Yeboah, the Attorney General appears to be obstructing anti-corruption efforts instead of supporting other agencies. He argued that it will be difficult for the AG to deal with government appointees impartially, hence the need to allow other anti-corruption bodies to take part in justice delivery, he added.
The Attorney General’s office has not yet responded to the claims made on Kessben Maakye.
