President Mahama Hails Prof. Naana Jane as “A Woman of Dignity and Quiet Strength”

President John Dramani Mahama has paid glowing tribute to Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, describing her as a pillar of support and an exemplar of integrity in national leadership.

Speaking during a national Thanksgiving service to mark one year in office, President Mahama said the Vice President had demonstrated maturity, composure and unwavering dedication in the service of the nation.

“I reserve my special thanks for my Vice President, Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, a woman of dignity and quiet strength,” the President declared.

He added that her leadership qualities and commitment to duty had been invaluable to the administration.

“I could not have wished for a better assistant to help me bear the heavy load Ghanaians have entrusted to me,” President Mahama said, acknowledging the pressures and responsibilities that come with governance.

Historic Role

Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, a distinguished academic and former Minister of Education, is the first woman to serve as Vice President of the Republic of Ghana. President Mahama highlighted this historic achievement and praised her for handling the office with humility and purpose.

He said her “quiet strength” had been central to the government’s efforts to stabilize the economy, strengthen institutions and advance social development.

Partnership in Leadership

The President noted that leadership was both a privilege and a burden — one that required trusted partners.

“Leadership is a privilege, but it is also a load we are asked to carry,” he said, explaining that the support of the Vice President had been instrumental in navigating the past year’s challenges.

He further commended her commitment to ethical governance, compassion and service to ordinary Ghanaians.

Public Reaction

The President’s tribute has drawn praise from sections of the public and gender advocates who say the Vice President’s leadership continues to inspire women and young girls across the country.

President Mahama closed his remarks by invoking God’s blessing on his Vice President, saying, “Nana Jane, God richly bless you.”
