We are not saying the NDC Gov’t must not be making arrests about corruption in the past, but it should be transparent and clear – Charles Owusu Juanah ESQ

Lawyer for the National Cathedral Project, Charles Owusu Juanah ESQ, has called on the current NDC government to handle anti-corruption efforts with fairness, clarity, and transparency.

Speaking on Kessben TV’s Punch with Wofa Kofi Appiah, Mr. Juanah emphasized that while it is not wrong for the government to pursue past corruption cases, the process must be conducted in a transparent and non-partisan manner.

“We are not saying the NDC government must not make arrests over past corruption, but it should be transparent and clear,” he said.

Mr. Juanah stressed that selective justice or politically motivated prosecutions could erode public trust and weaken the credibility of the anti-corruption agenda. He urged the government to ensure that investigations are guided by evidence and due process rather than political pressure or public spectacle.

He also pointed out that true accountability cannot be achieved through intimidation or media trials, but through clear, consistent legal procedures that apply to all, regardless of political affiliation.

The lawyer, who has recently defended the National Cathedral Secretariat against corruption allegations, reiterated that the fight against corruption should not be used as a tool to settle political scores. Instead, it should strengthen institutions, uphold the rule of law, and promote national unity.

His comments come at a time when the NDC government has intensified investigations into alleged mismanagement under the previous administration, prompting debate over the fairness and impartiality of ongoing prosecutions.
