Ghana extends solidarity: President Mahama donates 40 metric tons of cocoa products to Palestine

Government of Ghana has announced a humanitarian donation of 40 metric tons of chocolate and cocoa-based products to the people of Palestine. The donation, featuring Premier Ghana’s distinguished Golden Tree brand, aims to provide nutritional support and symbolic solidarity to families enduring conflict.
Speaking at the Presidency today, Friday August 1,2025, during the presentation of the items, President of Ghana H.E John Dramani Mahama disclosed that, the donation goes beyond mere food aid, he emphasized the dual significance of the gesture – symbolizing national values of resilience and generosity while providing a nutritionally rich product.
“The images and stories emerging from the conflict zones are heart-breaking,” President Mahama said.
“Behind every headline and statistic, there are human lives who long for peace, dignity, and hope.” He added.
The donation, featuring Premier Ghana’s Golden Tree brand, is more than just a food aid package.
Ghana’s President highlighted the profound significance of the gesture, describing cocoa as “one of our most treasured natural commodities” that “represents a significant source of economic livelihood for millions of Ghanaian farmers and families.”
Nutritionally, the cocoa products offer substantial health benefits. “Cocoa is a powerful superfood,” He explained.
“It is rich in antioxidants and vitamins, supports the immune system, promotes cardiovascular health, and enhances brain function and emotional well-being.” President Mahama maintained.
The donation specifically aims to support vulnerable populations, with a focus on women and children.
“We sincerely hope that these cocoa products will provide comfort, nourishment, and a tangible expression of our solidarity to the families facing unimaginable hardship,” President Mahama stressed.
This humanitarian effort underscores Ghana’s commitment to global compassion and support during challenging times.
