BREAKING: Kotoko signs MOU with former Coach Dr. Prosper Ogum, Official car returned – Full details

Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC has reached a formal agreement with its former head coach, Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum, to pay his severance package of $16,000 by the end of June 2025, according to Kessben Sports.

The agreement was sealed through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), which outlines the terms and timeline for the settlement of the severance package. As part of the agreement, Dr. Ogum has officially returned the club vehicle that was issued to him during his tenure, further signifying a spirit of cooperation in closing this chapter.

This financial resolution comes shortly after Kotoko made a $20,000 payment to Dr. Ogum, covering a portion of his five months’ outstanding salary arrears. The payment, confirmed by sources close to the club, was a significant first step in mending relations with the former coach, who led the team to a Ghana Premier League title in the 2021/2022 season.

The MOU stipulates that the remaining severance amount will be fully settled by June 30, 2025, giving Kotoko a clear window to fulfill its final commitment. For many supporters and analysts, the structured timeline represents a more professional and transparent approach to handling contractual obligations—something the club has been criticized for mishandling in the past.

Dr. Ogum’s relationship with Kotoko has seen both high points and challenges, including his dramatic exit in 2022 and eventual return in 2023. Despite his recent departure from the technical bench again, both parties have shown signs of mutual respect and willingness to move forward without acrimony.
