“NPPs’ National Leadership Lacks Credibility” – Dr. Amakye Boateng Fires

Political Analyst, Dr. Kwasi Amakye Boateng, has taken a strong swipe at the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), describing the party’s internal affairs as chaotic and unstructured following what he called a “woeful failure” in the just-ended elections.
Speaking on Kessben TV’s Maakye show, Dr. Amakye Boateng lamented that the NPP had lost touch with its own constitution, stressing that the party “did not play by the rules of the game” during the election period.“Every group is bound by an internal constitution. In the case of the NPP, there was clearly a breach,” he noted.
According to him, the poor handling of public resources and gross indiscipline in their governance led to their woeful failure. Citing issues such as the fabrication of ghost workers within the National Service Scheme (NSS) as evidence of systemic corruption.
He called for a comprehensive review of the party’s constitution.
Adding that the national leadership of the NPP lacks credibility and should seriously consider resigning and remobilizing the party from the ground up.
“At this time, what the party needs is very serious introspection to come up with what went wrong and restructure. But instead, people are rather competing to become the party’s flag bearer going into the next election,” he said.
On the committee set up to investigate the party’s election failure, Dr. Amakye Boateng expressed skepticism. He questioned the credibility of the report to be released by the committee, led by Prof. Michael Quaye.“Michael Quaye is very much an interest actor, especially given the role his son plays in the party,” he said. “The relevance of that report will be dead even before it comes out. It might rather create more divisions than provide clarity.
The political analyst’s remarks underscore the urgency for the NPP to address its internal issues and restore public trust ahead of future elections.
