Manhyia South MP Nana Adjei Baffour Awuah, calls on Government to buy local to stabilize Ghana’s economy

The Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, Nana Adjei Baffour Awuah, has called on the Government of Ghana to prioritize purchasing goods and services from local businesses as a strategic step toward economic stability and private sector growth.

Speaking on Kessben FM, the MP emphasized that empowering Ghanaian producers is one of the most effective ways to boost the economy from within.

According to the MP, many Ghanaian businesses have the capacity to supply goods and services at competitive prices but are often sidelined in favor of foreign imports or international contractors.

He argued that redirecting state procurement to favor local enterprises would create jobs, strengthen industries, and reduce capital flight.

He pointed out that countries that have developed strong economies did so by deliberately supporting their own people first.

The Manhyia South MP also challenged government institutions and agencies to revise their procurement policies to favor local suppliers, even if it means investing in improving their standards and capacity.
