Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Tackles Visa Application Concerns

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has taken a significant step in addressing the concerns of Ghanaian citizens regarding their treatment at foreign missions in Ghana for visa applications. The ministry has engaged with embassies and high commissions to address issues such as inadequate waiting areas, lack of emergency services, long waiting times for appointments, and difficulties with online visa application platforms.

To tackle these concerns, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has dispatched a Note Verbale to all embassies and high commissions, urging them to establish humane and suitable conditions at their premises. The ministry expects foreign missions to respond positively and make the necessary adjustments.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has assured the public of its commitment to ensuring that embassies and high commissions comply with the directives outlined in the Note Verbale. However, the ministry acknowledges that foreign missions reserve the right to determine who they issue visas to.

This move by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs demonstrates the government’s efforts to improve the visa application process and ensure that Ghanaian citizens are treated with dignity and respect when interacting with foreign missions in Ghana.
