Ghana and Seychelles took a significant step forward in strengthening their bilateral relations with the signing of two key agreements on Monday, November 25, 2024. The Bilateral Air Service Agreement (BASA) and the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Cooperation in the field of STEM, Research, Training, and Skills Development were signed during the official visit of H.E. Wavel Ramkalawan, President of the Republic of Seychelles, to Ghana.

The BASA was signed by Mrs. Mabel Sagoe, Chief Director of the Ministry of Transport, while Mrs. Mamle D. Andrews, Chief Director of the Ministry of Education, signed the MoU on Education. H.E. Conrad Mederic, High Commissioner of the Republic of Seychelles to Ethiopia, represented the Republic of Seychelles in the signing ceremony.

This development brings the total number of MoUs signed during President Ramkalawan’s visit to Ghana to four. Previously, MoUs in the areas of Culture and Tourism Development were signed on Thursday, November 21, 2024.

The agreements are expected to foster greater cooperation and collaboration between the two countries in areas of mutual interest. The BASA will facilitate the establishment of air transport services between Ghana and Seychelles, promoting tourism, trade, and economic development.

The MoU on STEM, Research, Training, and Skills Development aims to promote cooperation in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, as well as research, training, and skills development. This partnership will enable the sharing of expertise, resources, and best practices, ultimately contributing to the socio-economic development of both countries.

The signing of these agreements underscores the commitment of Ghana and Seychelles to strengthening their bilateral relations and promoting mutual prosperity.
