This NPP Government Has Laid The Foundation That Is Ready To Be Built On – Hon Kingsley Atta Boafo
According to Hon Kingsley Atta Boafo, the government has initiated policies aimed at benefiting the people and boosting Ghana’s economy, particularly in education, road infrastructure, and healthcare. According to the current administration, the foundations it has laid are ready to be built upon, and thus the NPP believes it should retain power rather than ceding it to the NDC, who, they argue, would not continue these projects.
On the Adwenkyere show, the host asked, “The NDC says the policies you’ve introduced haven’t worked, yet you’re asking Ghanaians to vote for you to continue the good work you claim to be doing. What’s your response to this? What specific accomplishments can you point to that would convince Ghanaians to support you?”
In response, Hon. Kingsley Atta Boafo emphasized the importance of education, stating, “People often say all I talk about is free SHS, but how can one discuss our achievements without mentioning education?”
Hon. Boafo further highlighted the NPP’s success in introducing the Ghana Card, the digital address system, and mobile interoperability. He explained that these policies have significantly improved financial transactions for Ghanaians and contributed to the country’s economic stability.
Digitalization, he argued, is central to the NPP’s economic strategy. Reflecting on a recent robbery incident in Accra, Boafo stated that the use of CCTV cameras across the city could help reduce crime. “If the government is pushing for technology, the goal is to reduce vices like robbery and bribery. When people know they’re under surveillance, they’re more likely to think twice before engaging in misconduct.”
He also emphasized that digitalization helps reduce the need to carry cash, promoting financial security. With money stored digitally, individuals are less vulnerable to theft, which not only protects citizens but also supports economic growth.
Boafo continued, “When the fundamentals are weak, the exchange rate exposes you. That’s why this government introduced the One District One Factory (1D1F) initiative to empower private businesses, expand job opportunities, and reduce economic strain.”
The government is also investing in road infrastructure, launching the District Road Improvement Project (DRIP) to improve transportation between rural and urban areas. This, Boafo explained, will allow farmers to transport products more easily and at lower costs, benefiting both producers and consumers. Additionally, this road improvement initiative will facilitate emergency responses, enabling faster transportation to health facilities.
In terms of healthcare, the government’s Agenda 111 project aims to build hospitals in various districts, ensuring accessible healthcare for all citizens.
In conclusion, Boafo urged Ghanaians to support the NPP in continuing the work they have started, instead of switching to the NDC, whose commitment to these projects is uncertain.
